With medical supplies and equipment on board, South Florida philanthropist and entrepreneur Hank Asher donated his aircraft for several medical relief flights to Haiti after an earthquake ravaged the poverty-stricken nation. CBS4.com and the South Florida Business Journal have published stories about the devastation in Haiti and Asher's philanthropic relief efforts.
Hank Asher is credited with transforming the public records industry by developing a method of fusing data that enabled law enforcement to find and capture criminals faster and insurance companies to reduce risk and fight fraud. His first database company, Database Technologies, took the insurance industry by storm in 1992 when he launched AutoTrack. News of Asher's program captured the attention of law enforcement and private investigators who began using the product to find criminals.
His record of philanthropy begins in the early Database Technology days when his product AutoTrack was made available at no charge to America's Most Wanted and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Since that time he has donated both commercial and financial resources to NCMEC.
His new venture, TLO, helps law enforcement find child sexual predators and track online child pornography. He offers law enforcement free high-security office space and free access to the technology necessary to apprehend predators. His company is currently developing a commercial product to "protect children, people, companies and countries from risk, fraud, and theft"

A Pedophile is More Dangerous than a Pervert
The distorted St. Pete Times article about Hank Asher and the technology his new company TLO has created to find child pornographers has caused quite a stir. I noticed some people and even this blog about crime are using the word "pervert" and "pedophile" interchangeably.
I want to make a distinction between a "pervert" and a "pedophile" not because pedophiles aren't "perverts" but because the word "pervert" does not engender the dangerous nature of a pedophile.
Pedophiles are sexual predators - they stalk, hunt and hurt children. Sometimes they murder children.
TLO software helps find people who trade child pornography. I call those people "pedophiles" and "sexual predators" not simply perverts. Why? Because trading child pornography is NOT a victimless crime.
Why All the Privacy Hoopblah?
It is true that the owner of the company, Hank Asher donates work space and his company's technology to law enforcement so law enforcement can catch pedophiles and child pornographers. But I seriously doubt, as has been suggested, Hank Asher does so to gain access to "confidential data."
Hank Asher has a very long history of working with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and a long history of contributing financially and donating his technology to same. It appears he is guilty of philanthropy and nothing as sinister as intruding "into the lives of millions of Americans."
Insinuating he has some dark ulterior motive for giving away his money, work space and technology shifts the focus away from fighting crime and catching child sexual predators.
Now THAT is a perversion.
